Step-by-Step Cleaning Instructions For Porcelain & Ceramic Floor Tiles:

Step 1: Sweep or vacuum the floor

Dirt and dust tend to pile up in every corner. Start your tile cleaning by sweeping the dust, hair, and other debris on the floor. Opt for a vacuum if you have one at home since it can quickly help you to extract the dirt before cleaning your floor tile.

Step 2: Mix the cleaning solution

If using a homemade cleaner, mix one tablespoon of dish soap or liquid detergent with 2 cups of warm water and pour the mixture into a spray bottle or bucket.

Step 3: Run the mop over the floor with the solution

First, make sure that the mixture dampens everything. Then, gently run the mop over the floor and follow the pattern as you move through. Reapply the cleaning solution and wipe it if there's still dirt.

Step 4: Change the water regularly and continue mopping

The water will become cloudier as you rinse the mop or rag. Have an additional bucket of clean water nearby to soak and rinse your used mop. You can then resume mopping by dipping into the "clean" soapy bucket.

If there are haze and hard-to-remove stains, make a solution of white vinegar and hot water and wipe a moist microfiber cloth over the tile to remove it.

Step 5: Spray, allow the solution to sit, then brush the grout gently

Spray the bleach cleaning solution and let it sit on your floor tile grout for at least 5 minutes. Use gloves to protect your bare hands from bleach solution. Then gently brush the tile grout until the dirt and stains are removed.

Step 6: Rinse it off and dry it with a clean microfiber cloth

Rinse your floor tile thoroughly with water. Then, use another dry and clean cloth to dry immediately.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles can be cleaned similarly to marble, granite, and other floor tiles, with a few exceptions:

1. When sweeping natural stone floor tile, use a soft-bristled brush because they scratch considerably more easily than ceramic and porcelain.
2. Avoid using steel wool and other abrasive scrubbers if you have to remove tough stains to prevent streaks or unnecessary scratches.
3. Avoid using bleach or any acidic cleaner because it could discolor the surface.
4. Don’t leave stains and spills. Instead, immediately clean as you go, no matter what kind of tiles you have. Doing this can avoid accumulation, cloudy conditions, and even stains.
